To download the application for your device, access the link below, then open the link in a supported operating system and input the serial number as described on the page.
This is the only way to obtain apps for the Sony Handycams as they don't allow free and public downloading.
I am using Picture package Ver 1.0 with Sony Handicam DCR HC-40E on my Windows XP SP3 32 bit and there is no problem. I want to know whether will it run in Windows 7 SP1?

Yes, the software will run with Windows 7 SP1 32bit only. There is no support or available pack for the 64bit version of Windows 7. However, support for this type of applications is extremely limited. The only available download on Sony's website is provided for Media Browser.
If it doesn't work, it means that the application is not compatible with your system. The latest version of Picture Package is developed to run only with Windows XP and below platforms. Sony Corporation offers Picture Motion Browser as an alternative software to Picture Package. I suggest you to download and install it from the official web page.
